The News-Press, on Dec 6th, featured a great piece on Hunters Ridge Golf & Country Club, Bonita Springs, Fl. As the President Hunters Ridge Ladies’ Organization, I was interviewed regarding our organization, our drives and passions.
“The club is benefiting from the contribution of a particularly distinctive member; Fran Mainella—–the first female director of the National Parks Service, serving from 2001 through 2006——who is serving a one-year term as president of the Hunters Ridge Ladies’ Organization.
“The organization is a vital part of the success of our very popular women’s golf program, especially our three major annual events—-Hullabaloo, member-guest and nine-hole invitational, “ she said. “We help coordinate play formats, entertainment, decorations, gifts and more. This year’s theme is Friends and Fun which is so appropriate.”
Mainella, previously a seasonal community resident who became a full-time Hunters Ridge resident in 2013, sees similarities in her previous and current endeavors.
“I always believed our parks were to be preserved and also enjoyed. The same philosophy is upheld here in protecting the environment while also enjoying golf.”
She tries to play four times a week—twice with HRLO members, once with her husband and others……….”
